Our Approach
Our approach is to treat your land like it was our own. Land is precious, and we want to do whatever we can to make owning land in Texas possible. Everyday, Legacy Ranch owners are having to sell their land because they can’t work it anymore, and can’t keep it without that precious Ag Exemption. That is where we come in – we help you determine if there is another way to keep you lower taxed Ag property, without all the work, wear, tear and hassle. In 1995, Texas introduced Wildlife Use / Management as a conservation effort – but it has since helped thousands of Texans keep a lower tax rate, while doing their part to maintain, sustain and promote a healthy environment for our Native Texas Wildlife. It is truly Ag done a whole different way!
Our Story
Greystone Land & Wildlife Management was started out of the desire to help. Not only do we want to help the Legacy Ranch owners, but we want to help the ever growing population of smaller Ranch and Farm owners that adorn the Texas Hill Country. As large Ranches have been sold and divided, there are many 5, 10, 20, 100 + acre land parcels that house a new breed of Texan that wants to learn and do their part to conserve and beautify Texas. We want to be a part of their journey. Whether we are only needed for a consultation, or are needed for ongoing Management and Reporting, we are neighbors, friends and family, and we will take care of you.
Meet the Team
Ok, true confession, there is a lot of I in the we I have been typing. But never doubt the power, pull, contacts and gumption of a Texas woman with a burning passion and love for land!
Cathy Briggs
Managing Director and Property Tax Consultant
As a born and bred Fifth generation Texan, taking care of the state’s land is not only important to me, but is what I see as our future, our legacy, and a way to secure the world for our children. I grew up in northeast Texas, went to school at Texas Wesleyan University, then on to graduate school at East Texas State University – now proudly named Texas A&M – Commerce. I married an Aggie, gave birth to two Aggies, am the mother-in-law of an Aggie, and a University of Washington girl – and, if I have my way, will be the grandmother of an Aggie!
After a long career in consumer goods, and traveling around the world, I find myself here in the Texas Hill Country, where I am surrounded by Legacy Ranches, and the new breed of small Farm and Ranch owners. With only 32 acres of land, I am one of the new breed, but I have a family legacy that taught me the importance of taking care of what we have – and that, I intend to do.
